Developed jointly by the SEPECAT consortium formed by British Aerospace and Dassault-Breguet of France, the Jaguar was created as a low-level all-weather attack aircraft. Instead of going for high speed, the designers aimed at good agility and comprehensive avionics. With its large low-pressure tires the Jaguar can easily operate from short grass airstrips and or any good section of highway. Simple, rugged, and effective, it boasts an excellent maintenance record as well. First operational in the early 1970's, the Jaguar recently flew combat missions in Desert Storm. The 'A' model is used by France.
